Business Development Manager - High-Value Freight Brokerage (Remote or Hybrid)

About the Role

A well-established and rapidly growing freight brokerage is seeking a Business Development Manager with strong transportation experience and a proven track record of selling high-value, high-margin freight. This role is ideal for a motivated, revenue-driven self-starter with a book of business, strong CRM proficiency, and the ability to build and grow strategic customer relationships-especially in the trade show, time-critical, and premium freight sectors.

This position can be remote or hybrid, offering flexibility for top-performing freight sales professionals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand high-value customer relationships, with a focus on time-sensitive, trade show, and premium freight opportunities.
  • Leverage an existing book of business to accelerate revenue growth and maximize margin.
  • Manage the full sales cycle-prospecting, qualifying, closing, and retaining profitable accounts.
  • Provide consistent sales activity updates, forecasting, and pipeline reporting to leadership.
  • Use Zoho CRM and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to manage leads, track performance, and drive conversion.
  • Represent the company at major industry trade shows and logistics events (70% of business is trade show related).
  • Collaborate closely with internal operations and sales support to ensure exceptional service on high-value freight.
  • Deliver creative, solution-based logistics strategies tailored to complex customer needs.
  • Utilize company-provided technology-laptops, portable monitors, phones-to support efficient, mobile selling.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of freight brokerage or transportation sales experience, with verifiable success in high-value, high-margin freight.
  • Strong background or familiarity with trade show logistics preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic, international, customs, emergency, and specialty shipments.
  • Skilled in CRM platforms; Zoho preferred.
  • Self-driven, highly proactive, and able to remove roadblocks to close and retain business.
  • Experience working with exhibit houses or trade show vendors is a plus.
  • Able to operate within any existing non-compete parameters, if applicable.
